Engineering (maintain track, right of way, facilities, bridges and signals)
Engineering employees provide quality maintenance to the track, train control (signals and communication) systems, bridges and buildings in a safe, cost-effective manner. Additional training is provided and union membership is required. Select a job description below to learn more.

- Assistant Signal Worker - Construction: Assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of various railroad signals and grade crossing protection equipment. See description

- Bridge Mechanic: Construct, maintain and repair bridges to ensure the safe passage of trains. See description
- Bridge Tender: Operate and maintain bridges to ensure the safe passage of water traffic and trains. See description
- Communications Maintainer - Technician: Install, maintain, replace and repair electrical and electronic communications equipment. See description
- Heavy Equipment Operator: Operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, bobcats, and excavators. See description
- Road Electrician: Perform electrical inspection, construction, maintenance, and repair activities on power distribution equipment, floodlight towers, power poles, air conditioning units and other fixed facilities. See description

- Sheet Metal Worker - Plumber: Tin, coppersmith, and pipe-fit engines, railcars, tracks, and bridges in a variety of locations. See description
