Even Meta's acquisition, the VR fitness app Supernatural, has been moved into maintenance mode, indicating a reduced focus.

Meta's spokesperson confirmed that the company is redirecting resources from VR to AI glasses and wearable devices. They said, "This is part of our effort to reinvest savings and support the growth of wearables."

While Meta's VR projects haven't gained much traction, their AI-powered wearables, like the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, have shown more promise.

Despite the downsizing, Meta isn't completely abandoning VR. They're reaching out to developers from Roblox, a popular gaming platform, to create experiences for Horizon Worlds. By emulating platforms like Roblox and Minecraft, Meta hopes to attract a younger audience.

Andrew Hatton, an analyst, believes Meta's decision is influenced by the underperformance of VR headsets and the rise of mobile gaming.
