URSB Clinches Government Agency of the Year at 2025 KACITA Quality Awards
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has been named Government Agency of the Year at the 2025 KACITA Quality Awards, edging out strong contenders including the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
The KACITA Quality Awards, presented annually, recognize organizations and individuals who demonstrate exceptional excellence, inventive approaches, and a strong focus on customer service across various sectors.
URSB’s victory underscores its rising influence in boosting Uganda’s business competitiveness through enhanced public–private collaboration and faster service delivery. As the national body responsible for business and intellectual property registration, insolvency management, and related services, URSB plays a pivotal role in helping businesses formalize, access financing, and scale operations.
Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho has steered URSB through a bold modernization program that prioritizes digital transformation, efficiency, and nationwide reach. The updated online business registration system has already helped thousands of entrepreneurs register more quickly and conveniently, unlocking opportunities in the formal economy.
Winning this award—one of the most prestigious recognitions for quality and service excellence in both public and private sectors—marks a major milestone for URSB. It validates the bureau’s progress in embedding innovation, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction into its daily operations.
Riding on this momentum, URSB has launched a nationwide mass-awareness campaign to boost uptake of its registration services. This initiative is a cornerstone of the Bureau’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, which aims to position URSB as a Centre of Excellence in business facilitation.
By widening awareness, simplifying the registration process, and supporting entrepreneurship, URSB seeks to accelerate formalization, drive job creation, and reinforce Uganda’s economic growth.
In a statement, URSB expressed gratitude to the public, private-sector stakeholders, and the business community for their continued trust, reiterating its commitment to transparent, high-quality, and impactful service delivery."
